HELIOS is an electric scooter concept for action sports. Push scooters have a big following in stunt riding, while electric scooters have mostly stayed in commuting, so this project asks what an electric scooter built for a new generation of extreme sports could look like.
The design goals were a strong, lightweight frame that holds up to hard impacts and lands at about 35-40 lbs, off-road air-filled tires, front and rear suspension, a removable battery pack, a gyro/detangler brake system, and a top speed of 18-25 mph. Because it is built for tricks rather than travel, range mattered less than durability and handling. BMX-inspired handlebars and a round LCD display give it the look of an action sports machine.
I designed the interface on the display, including a low battery indicator so a rider knows when the charge is running out.
This is a form and concept study. The battery and motor are assumed to sit inside the deck, and the internal mechanics were not engineered in detail.

Brand identity: The Helios logo forms an H from two angular shapes based on an abstract scooter form. It is used on its own, as a shield badge, and with the HELIOS wordmark. The name comes from the Greek sun god, a nod to energy and power. The black and white brand carries a blue accent on the wheel rims and grips.
